Retreat II
Ubud, Bali, Indonesia 3/22-28, 2020
Upon your Arrival on bali!
Bali airport (Ngurah Rai International Airport) is your main entry point to the island. Bali airport's code is 'DPS' for Denpasar, the provincial capital of Bali.
After your plane lands at Bali airport, you'll head inside the arrival terminal.
This houses the immigration area where you queue and present your passport and visa. There are two sections, one for Visa-on-Arrival (VoA) and non VoA. As of last update in March 2016, there are 169 nations eligible to enter Indonesia visa-free. The process should not take longer than 15 minutes; however expect long queues when crowds of fellow passengers arrive. Once through immigration, proceed to baggage claims, and have your baggage claim tag ready. Trolleys around the baggage claim area are available, as well as porter services. Just outside the terminal is the arrival hall. This is the rendezvous point and pick-up zone where the final steps of your arrival process takes place.

About Pura Tirta Empul
Tirta Empul is not only one of the most important temples but also one of the most famous,
because of its holy water that is used for purification. Next to the complex is also a modern villa on the hill,
built for President Sukarno's visit in 1954. The temple was built around 960 A.D. Tirta Empul means "holy water spring".
The spring's water is distributed to various purification pools that Balinese Hindus use for their purification rituals
About our sunrise trek up Mount Batur
this is a pre-dawn trek up Mt Batur and view an unforgettable sunrise from atop the active Kintamani volcano.
For physically fit hikers, the ascent takes approx. 2 hours. At the peak we will be rewarded with views of spectacular scenery
and served a tasty egg breakfast cooked by the steam of the volcano. Learn from your experienced local guide about one
of Bali’s most sacred mountains and hike around the entire crater before making your way down.

Money
Bali Currency Basics
Rupiah bills are issued in denominations of Rp 1,000, 2,000, 5,000, 10,000, 20,000, 50,000 and 100,000.
You might also see Rp 500 bills, which are in limited circulation but are no longer being produced. Rupiah coins come in denominations of Rp 25, 50, 100, 500 and a new gold and silver Rp 1,000 coin, with both old and newly issued coin designs in circulation for Rp 500, 100 and 50 coins.
Obtaining and Using Rupiahs
Rupiahs are available at the airport, banks and currency exchange centers in the United States and upon arrival in Bali. If you're changing money in Bali, conversion rates will likely vary from one establishment to another, so shop around a little to secure a favorable rate. ATMs also are available to withdraw rupiahs from a bank account, though the amount of rupiahs issued varies by machine and an international withdraw fee and transaction fees are charged on most ATM transactions. An assortment of low denomination bills and coins are a must when exploring Bali, as cash is used for most transactions and businesses and cab drivers often expect the customer to provide exact change.
Using a Credit Card
Credit cards are accepted at most high-end hotels, restaurants, stores and nightclubs, with Visa and MasterCard being the most commonly accepted cards, followed by American Express and Diners Club. Most transactions are completed in rupiahs and a surcharge frequently is added for credit card payments. When using a credit card in Bali, keep the card in sight at all times, avoid completing online transactions in public places and monitor card statements closely, as the U.S. State Department notes that credit card fraud and theft is a common problem in Indonesia.
weather
March is still considered rainy season but things begin to dry + brighten up.
the average temperature in Bali in March is 80 degrees ferenheit.
